It is deeply disturbing to me that one of the people in the running to lead our country, a person who apparently made it through med school, would make such incredibly thoughtless and ignorant statements regarding vaccines on a national platform. Due to a decline in vaccination rates because of misinformation and scare tactics, deadly diseases that were nearly eradicated in the US have spiked to the highest rates in decades; vaccines go through an incredible amount of safety research before they are made available to the public, and should not be portrayed as anything other than the incredible medical achievements that they are. If you have any questions or concerns about vaccines for yourself or your child, please feel free to email me and I am happy to provide you with specific, judgement-free, validated, peer reviewed, logical information and research that might help allay the fears that you may have quite reasonably developed because of incorrect messages in the media.

    1. Dr. Ben Carson, who started off ok by saying that vaccines are good, but then quickly undermined what he said by stating, “Vaccines are very important. Certain ones. The ones that would prevent death or crippling. There are others, there are a multitude of vaccines which probably don’t fit in that category, and there should be some discretion in those cases…” The recommended vaccine schedule is rigorously tested and constantly being reevaluated for safety and efficacy, and those parents who chose alternate schedules are more likely to have kids missing vaccines, because it’s hard enough to get in for all those early childhood appointments already without adding more into the mix!
